If Seinfeld were on Instagram
I’m a big fan of Seinfeld. Correction: huge fan. A few years ago, I went through the whole nine seasons and rated and made notes on every episode (there are 163). So imagine my joy when I discovered a new Twitter feed called Modern Seinfeld or @SeinfeldToday, which started up today. At the last count, it had just over 50,000 followers (in just over 23 hours) and by the time I finish writing this, it will probably be in 6 figures. The Seinfeld series ended in 1998, so that’s pre-Twitter and pre a whole loads of other things, including Instagram.
The idea with Modern Seinfeld is that people imagine certain modern-day situations involving the four main Seinfeld characters. Here’s my favourite so far: “Kramer fights with an Apple Genius. Elaine dates a hot subway conductor. Jerry gets an offer to “ghost tweet” the Kelloggs feed.” Perhaps not that funny if you don’t know the characters. People can make up their own tweets and @ the feed who might RT them. So I thought, hey, they haven’t mentioned Instagram yet! Here was my suggestion: “Jerry is on the IG suggested user list. He hires Kramer to reply to comments. But gets blocked for spamming about his dog taser business”. I thought it was a pretty good one. One for your more refined Instagram user perhaps. But alas it wasn’t retweeted. No worries. But then a couple of hours later: “Jerry breaks up with his girlfriend (Rashida Jones) because she Instagrams everything she eats.” A pretty obvious one to be totally honest (and not bitter). I think @SeinfeldToday needs to hire an Instagram specialist tweeter.
They now have 54,000 followers: so, not quite going viral then. Definitely get that Instagram specialist.

Possibly one of Kramer’s Instagrams?
